- I just keep hoping that they will make it possible to put the 020 or 030 that
- people may already have on these 040 and PPC accelerators. That way we could
- still have backwards compatibility with more software.
-
- Granted. We are primarily discussing the newxt A1200 variant, but even on
- that machine, lets say especially if it comes with an 040, it would be great
- to be able to buy an 020/030 class CPU for compatibility reasons and pop it
- on the mother board too. It wouldn't come with the 2nd CPU, just have the
- socket for an option.

- : Agreed. Backwards compatability should always have its limits... A little

- If they use a 40MHz 68030, I hope that they intend to have an FPU socket on
- the mother board, and either have the 030 come with MMU, or have a socket
- for an external MMU as well. We need easy options for upgrading in this
- day and age on the Amiga. Or, just have an 030 w/ MMU and the FPU socket;
- this to me would be the most cost effective way to handle it.
-
- If they use an 68040, I can only hope they use a FULL featured one, even
- though it will cost a lot more. Because many will not like having to go
- without an FPU -- period, and if they don't include an MMU, that will also
- be a problem. Again, we need a more versatile system that has the ability
- to do whatever we need/want it to do. Not a low spec, give ya the least we
- can, Commodore type situation. They gave us the least for too long. Time
- to show the world what the Amiga can do once again.
-
- And it is true that the FPU/MMU factor is not the main thing that will make
- or break the Amiga... But at the same time it is a factor that seems to have
- solutions to not make it a possibly negative issue. These are my thought!
